There’s nothing quite like the unique pleasure of sitting down for a long session with your favorite vape. At the same time, it’s uniquely disappointing when your vape suddenly stops working – especially if you don’t have a backup available that you can use instead. So, why did your Raz Vape stop working?
We’ll start with some good news. If your Raz Vape stops working, the most likely reason is that the battery is dead. There’s a simple solution for that: You can just recharge the device. There are also some more complicated reasons why a Raz Vape can stop working, though, and we’ll discuss those as well in this deep dive into the inner workings of one of the world’s most popular disposable vapes.
The Battery Is Dead
As we described in this guide’s introduction, the most likely reason why your Raz Vape stopped working is because the battery is dead. It’s pretty easy to tell when this is the case because all modern Raz Vape devices such as the TN9000 and the LTX 25K have built-in displays to let you know when their batteries are dead. When your Raz Vape’s battery is dead, the battery indicator will reach the bottom and may also start to blink.
To charge your Raz Vape, simply connect it to your computer with a USB cable. You’ll see the battery indicator begin to tick up after a few minutes, and the device will be fully charged in a little under an hour.
If the screen on your Raz Vape remains dark when you connect the device to your computer, it’s possible that the battery is completely dead. In this case, you may need to wait a few more minutes for the screen to turn on.
If the screen doesn’t turn on – or the battery indicator doesn’t seem to move – it’s possible that your Raz Vape isn’t charging. Here’s what you should do next.
- Try a different cable. USB cables fray easily and develop internal faults when they’re used daily, and it’s likely that you use the same cable to recharge your Raz Vape every day. When a vape isn’t charging, replacing the cable almost always fixes the problem.
- Try a different USB port. If you’re trying to charge your Raz Vape through a wall adapter, it’s possible that the adapter delivers the wrong charging current for your device. If you’re charging it through your computer, it’s possible that the USB port is misbehaving.
- Clean your Raz Vape’s charging port. You probably throw your device in your pocket when you’re out and about, and it’s possible that the port has picked up a bit of lint that could prevent power from transferring efficiently. If you see anything inside the port, you can remove it with a toothpick.
Your Raz Vape Is Empty
Did you notice a change in flavor before your Raz Vape stopped working? Maybe you found that the flavor intensity started to drop, even when the device was fully charged. It’s also possible that you noticed a bit of a plastic-like flavor in the background. Both of those are signs that the wick in your Raz Vape is beginning to dry out.
The screen on your Raz Vape also has an e-liquid indicator that provides some advance warning of when you’ll need to replace your device. If the e-liquid indicator is empty – and your device’s flavor has changed – it’s very likely that your Raz Vape is has run out of vape juice. Since disposable vapes aren’t refillable – not easily, at least – you’ll need to buy a new device when it reaches this point.
Your Raz Vape Is Clogged
A disposable vape can stop working if the airflow system clogs. That can happen if you inhale too firmly when puffing on the device. A small disposable vape like a Raz Vape has a narrow airflow channel. Using too much air pressure can overwhelm the device’s capacity to manage the airflow and cause excess e-liquid to flood the atomizer coil. You’ll know this has happened because you’ll either start to hear a gurgling noise or will see e-liquid coming out of the bottom airflow vent. There are three possible ways to resolve this problem.
- Roll a paper towel into a tight cylinder and run it down the Raz Vape’s mouthpiece to absorb and remove the excess e-liquid.
- If you see e-liquid coming out of the Raz Vape’s bottom airflow vent, try blowing hard through the mouthpiece to clear the e-liquid out. See if the device works again at this point.
- If your Raz Vape still isn’t working, try taking a few short, firm puffs to clear the blockage out of the airflow channel. You might feel a light “pop,” and the device should start working normally.
The Airflow Vent Is Closed
Are you having trouble pulling air through your Raz Vape? Check the airflow slider on the bottom of the device because it might be closed. If you move the slider to open the airflow vent, your Raz Vape should start working.
Your Raz Vape Is Damaged
Did your Raz Vape stop working after you dropped it? Depending on the specifics of the situation, it may be possible to fix your device – but you’ll need to act quickly. Here’s what you should do next.
- If your Raz Vape stopped working because of physical shock – you dropped it in a parking lot, for instance – It’s likely that the device is beyond repair because the internal components are physically damaged. There’s a risk of fire when you use any battery-powered device with a damaged battery, so you should stop using the device and recycle it immediately.
- If your Raz Vape stopped working because you dropped it in water, it may be possible to recover it, but you’ll need to be fast. Water can cause a short circuit if it contaminates a vape’s internal components, and that can ruin the device permanently. Start by blowing hard through the Raz Vape’s mouthpiece with the airflow slider on the bottom fully open. If water comes out the airflow vent, keep blowing until you don’t see water anymore. Remove any remaining moisture by sealing your Raz Vape in an airtight container with scent-free kitty litter or desiccant packets for a day or two. With a little luck, the device will be as good as new when you take it back out.
